About the Ravenna Police Department

The Ravenna City Police Department proudly serves the 11,500+ citizens of the City of Ravenna, with a staff of 27 sworn Law Enforcement Officers and 11 Communications Officers. The department is equipped with a state of the art computer aided dispatch system, mobile data terminals, enhanced 911, and other advanced technology to better serve its citizens. Our officers answer over 20,000 calls for service each year ranging from public assists such as vehicle lockouts to more serious criminal offenses such as assaults, burglaries and robberies. In case of more serious tactical incidents, the department belongs to Metro Swat which is a multi-jurisdictional agency that further enhances our response capabilities. The department works with a Federal Task Force through the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), which investigates illegal drug activity in Ravenna and throughout the county.

It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week! RPD celebrated our amazing team with a “You’re appreciated S’more than you know” theme, complete with a s’mores bar.

“Outsiders to the trade don’t realize how much they matter to cops and firefighters. Even if we don’t thank them enough; we are flawed and self-centered in believing that any part of the job could be successfully completed without the assistance from public safety communicators.”

To our Ravenna Dispatch Team, thank you! To dispatchers around the globe, we salute you all. Not just today, but every day. 🖤💛🖤

Why don't the Ravenna police go up to Walmart and get those begging people at the entrance to go there? They need to stop begging from citizens who are having a hard time taking care of themselves! I feel guilty for not giving to them, but they are way younger than me, there are so many jobs, and many places to get help from Churches, Center of Hope, Salvation Army, and other food banks. I went to Walmart yesterday and saw a police car drive right by them and did nothing!
